Last night I was on a panel on cost and performance optimization at the Boston Amazon Web Services Meetup Group. The event was coordinated by Mark Annati of Extreme Reach, and included Jason Fuller, Head of Cloud Service Delivery for Pegasystems, David Block, VP of Engineering at Backupify, Aaron Newman, CTO of CloudCheckr, and myself. Mark did a great job of moderating us, stirring up some good discussion on tools, best practices, tips and pitfalls. Over 100 people had signed up, and while don't think everyone showed up, it was definitely well attended.

It’s easy for us to forget that our backyard has some great innovators in cloud computing. We have companies pushing the bounds of compute, storage, automation, security, and management - with Pega and Backupify being just two of these. We also have some great entrepreneurs, executives and engineers that are thought leaders in this industry. While I will always wish for more cloud computing locally, it’s a great time to be in the cloud and in Boston.

Mark recorded some audio for anyone interested who missed the event.
